beautiful 50K on the Loyalsock Trail and other trails....a great mix of rocky, soft, elevated, runnable trails with waterfalls and vistas. a beautiful/challenging/runnable course.........it was humid early on, had two tough climbs within the first 6 miles. it flattened out and then rolling. a few more big climbs in early 20 miles.......the first 15 miles or so I was very cautious...didn't want to run out of gas or dehydrate. I stuck with a lot of water, Gatorade, salt, and food throughout. Caryn came up and helped out crewing. I was running with Gary Bowman for some of the first half and met up with him around mile 20 or so and stuck with him. he started cramping and I decided to stick with him for the rest of it....I felt good and could have taken off and left him after about mile 22 miles or so......thinking I could have finished around 8 hrs if I didn't hang with Gary. The mileage was at least 33 miles and race director told us that prior to the start. Overall, a great first year event that I'll be coming back to next year.
