Notes

Definitely not my best race of this season, but I was able to successfully break into the hoffman track and do schaumburg (or i guess hoffman estates) nats. Was hoping to do better, but never fully got into the right gear for 800s so I probably shouldve done more speed stuff leading up to it, but speed stuff makes me sore and I didnt want to be sore for race week and i thought two consecutive weeks were race week lol. Because i had to push it back too I probably messed up my tapering but i made due with what I had today and I was happy I got one final effort in of the season

I like to be pretty transparent with my training plan, so for the next few days Im going to rest and not do any strenuous activity. Ill take like 1.5-2 weeks off of running but ill probably incorporate some cross training in starting mid to late next week. I like this time for my legs to rest and recover. They dont feel that bad right now, but its a long way till NIRCA XC nats so this is the best time to give them a break so they dont burn out by then. I do this after every season and Ive had success with it.

I also like to reflect on my season. This season overall I'd say was one of my best track seasons overall for the little time it lasted. I hit a 2:33 in my 800 which my PR is only 2:32 so I was pretty hopeful if we had an outdoor season I woulda gotten it. Little frustrated I didnt, but this season was a whole lot better overall than last track season so we are headed in the right direction. Going into XC, Im definitely hoping to step it up this season now that Ive got my feet wet in what collegiate racing is like and have a feel for the 6k distance. Last xc season i was averaging about 37-42 miles per week, and this season since I can do long runs now im hoping to bump up my mileage a bit to around 40-45 and maybe in peak training 47ish. With that being said, I don't want to go over 40 till August, I believe summer is a great time to get a solid base in, and do some great workouts, but too much mileage for that long of time in my opinion is not necessary. My town doesn't have a ton of great trails or grassy areas to run especially now that busse is closed for 'rona and running on cement for that much a week just aint the greatest so my summer mileage will probably be around 35-40. Ill probably start doing mini workouts in June and hopefully by then the gyms will open again so I can get some lifting and cross training into my regimen as well.

Thanks for a great season guys. On to XC

I'd say for the fact you've been training on your own and ran this race on your own, this is a very respectable 800. You clearly have a very good perspective on everything, and I look forward to seeing where you go from here. Enjoy your rest!

I agree with Bryan, that time solo in these circumstances is definitely impressive. You had a great season and I can't wait to see what you do in xc!

Definitely agree with Bryan and MaryBeth. Solo time trials are so hard, but this is very impressive. Majors props to you! So proud of your xc and track seasons this school year. I look forward to seeing what you'll do this xc season!
