Just not my day. I was not well rested (woke up at 4 am), my legs felt heavy and I never felt ready. It was a 180 from how I felt last weekend when I could have run really well. It was humid, windy and hilly- not a good day.

Mile one felt ok and I got out at a good pace but even then, I just knew that I didn't have my legs. Miles 2 and 3 had good size climbs and my heavy legs never felt like they had any turnover. After cresting a hill at 3.1 miles, I was able to run downhill a bit until I turned right at 3.7 and started a section that was over a mile climb. During the fifth mile, I kind of hit a wall. My right groin that has bothered me off and on for the past year started to act up here. I felt like I was dragging my right leg and the long slow climb did not help. I felt miserable and my pace showed. The other thing that made the first five miles terrible was the wind was 12-15 mph out of the SE and I ran into it for the first five miles. Finally, we turned back west but still had two more big climbs to go. I had a decent 6th mile but I never felt good and I could feel the pain in my groin. Finally, after 6.7 miles, I peaked the last climb and was able to get downhill but I was not feeling well. I had a decent last 2.33 miles but overall, it was not a good day.

I just didn't have it today. I'm not upset about it because I know it was a tough day and I wasn't feeling great going into it. I've been running well and with my groin acting up, I wasn't my best. I still averaged 6:22 on a tough day so I'm ok with that. The big day is in five weeks and I'll be just fine.
