--- After starting over when my Garmin wasn't quite working 45 seconds in. Felt OK today, no lingering soreness in the quads, but did take a planned day off yesterday. Made it until 1.93 miles before dry-heaving (normal three times). ---

Mile splits: 8:51, 9:01 (17:52) and 2:27 (20:19) last 0.28 miles (8:45 pace)

Adjusted splits: 8:44, 8:58 and 8:47 pace last 0.27 miles

Had an OK stretch. Quads weren’t hurting as much as yesterday on my planned day off and certainly felt OK today. Planned on running the 1.24-mile WTSL loop and the 1.04-mile Parks. Started out feeling pretty good. The first time I looked at my watch it had me at 9:30 pace which had to be off because I usually start quick. Then I realized I had gone 40 seconds and I was still at 0.03 miles. I thought about it for a few seconds and eventually stopped near a telephone pole at just over 44 seconds (calling it 45). Walked back to the start and started again almost fully rested. Figured it was about 0.09 miles when I passed it the second time.

Felt heavier the second time running after the brief stop and start over. The little hill at the end of Lowell Ave. was unpleasant to get to Junior High Drive. Was breathing hard while passing a white car with three people in there, most likely doping it up. Got through there, excited to turn left on Parks for a little downhill, hitting 0.50 miles in about 4:25. Damn. Much quicker than my other runs this year. Used the downhill a little bit before crossing Normal Ave. and keeping about the same pace past Dale Elementary. Was feeling it a bit after that but got another downhill to University, hitting the first mile in 8:51, pretty much the same pace as my first 0.50. Ended up finishing the 1.24 miles in 10:56 (8:49 pace).

Was happy that I only had 1.04 miles left and I kept counting down the percentages every 0.25 miles. So about 55.6 percent at 1.25, 66.7 percent at 1.50, etc. This seemed to make it go faster. Struggled on Normal Ave. for the gradual uphill and successive little uphill turning left on Parks. Just wanted to get past the school and the rest would be easy. Got down the hill, kind of jogging, and dry-heaving about halfway down at 1.93 miles. It was my normal three times. Took the left on University and picked it up somewhat the rest of the way, while trying not to dry-heave again. Hit 17:52 at two miles, so a 9:01 second mile. Then hit the first mile of the second loop in 9:00 and finishing the 1.04 miles in 9:23 (9:01 pace).

Altogether it was 2.28 miles in 20:19 (8:55 pace). I’ll take it considering my weight and shape. Walked to the next driveway and back. Looking forward to an easy two miles tomorrow.
