--- Ran loops in 12:47 and 12:34. Legs didn’t feel the greatest but I was happy to get it out of the way early. Dry-heaved twice, both times on downhills (0.88 and 2.51 miles) (two times each). About shit myself when a fenced-in dog barked at me as I was looking at my 2-mile split. I yelled “Ahhh!” Usually I try to ignore the barking dogs to show them they are nothing. But this one won today. Hope he doesn’t tell his friends. ---

Started this a little later than I planned but wasn’t crazy behind. Just happy to get up and run on a Saturday (or Sunday) morning for once. Had a decent stretch and my legs felt better for doing so. The plan going in was two times on the semi-tough 1.47-mile Pedofile Adjace loop. Well, semi-tough right now with my weight and shape, but it is a favorite for me. My main goal was not to be laboring when finishing the first loop and to still have plenty left for the second loop, which I figured would be faster.

First couple of steps I knew I wouldn’t quite have it today. Legs were pretty tired (and only got mildly better throughout). Was at about 1:55 at the Normal Ave. stop sign and then took a left, hitting 0.25 miles in about 2:10. That split was not unreasonable and actually was the same as my planned recovery run yesterday which ended up being just an easy run instead. The stretch on Normal actually went by quick and usually is a chore. Took the right on Parks Ave. trying not to look at the 0.50-mile split but I think was around 4:28. Got up the LMAAC hill OK, slowing down toward the top. Was around 6:45 at 0.75 miles. Took me a bit to recover and got going on the downhill on Dale (obviously) but a dry-heave came out of nowhere at 0.88 miles (two, not normal three). Kept on trucking for a first mile of 8:50 (8:36 adjusted). Felt good down on University Ave. and knew I was going fast but wasn’t trying to pick it up. Wanted some left in the tank for the second loop. Ran the final 0.47 miles in 3:57 (8:25 pace) and the 1.47 miles total in 12:47 (8:41 pace).

Got what I wanted as I was still feeling under control for the second loop and wasn’t fearing it. Just wanted to get to the top of the LMAAC hill and the rest would be easy. Could feel myself slowing down on Lowell Ave. and then when I took a left on Normal. This part on Normal still went by fast, which is always nice because I don’t always feel good (like today). Took the right on Parks, looking at my 2-mile split (of 17:33 following an 8:43 (8:40 adjusted)) and about shit my pants when a fenced-in dog barking scared me. It reminded me of that viral post in Instagram with that wife getting scared by her husband. I usually don’t give dogs the time of day and just ignore them, but this one got me. Hopefully he didn’t tell his friends. Made the left up the LMAAC hill. Made an early effort to attack it but I let up toward the top, actually running the same time as the first time (although this adjusted was somehow faster). Took the left on Dale Ave. when I got to the top and knew the rest was downhill or flat, but it took me so long to recover. It was well past the Normal Ave. crossing and didn’t get going until I passed a lady walking. Finally started to open it up again and feel good on the downhill. Ran the first mile of the second loop in 8:48, somehow two seconds faster than the first loop. I dry-heaved shortly after at 2.51 miles, the second time I dry-heaved today on a downhill. Took the left on University, opening it up for the rest of the way. Was right around 8:00 pace, some in the 7:50s. Ran the final 0.47 miles in 3:46 (8:02 pace). Overall ran the second loop (1.47) in 12:34 (8:32 pace), 13 seconds faster than the first one.

Altogether it counted 2.93 miles in 25:22 (8:40 pace) (8:33 adjusted). I thought my average heart rate would be higher but it was 162 and I recovered quickly with it dropping to 128 by the time I got back to my apartment.
