Happy to get in a run, albeit recovery run, after a long day of work. Drove 35 minutes to work a golf tournament we were hosting, staying there from 7:15 a.m.-7 p.m. Came home and was just so tired. Laid down with Clara when she went to bed and just about fell asleep for good. Woke up after about 15 minutes and reluctantly got ready for what would be a short, recovery run. Had an ambitious goal of under 140 for my average heart rate. Had an OK stretch. Decided to bring my phone and listen to the latest No Laying Up podcast, hoping it would keep me going easy.

I hate saying jogged, but it felt like I basically jogged for 2.75 miles. Ran the full length of the new Tiptoe loop twice which is about as flat as can be, for sure the flattest actual loop around where I live. It was dark out and wet in spots on the sidewalk, but when I saw the puddles I would run in the road. Really only bad parts were three spots on the closest side on Lowell St. and two spots close to the Helix High School entrance on the other side. The rest, including Highlander Way, was dry. Ran through a couple of cigarette breaks by some fellas on both sides but nothing too lingering. The podcast made this time go by super fast and kept me running easy. Had to piss the last 0.50 miles and really thought I was going to piss myself at the end, but I was able to finish and then go behind a car.

Kept my average heart rate at 138, looking back the lowest of my running career with a heart rate (since May 2009). Kind of shocked at that with all the recovery runs I do. I wonder when I was in shape in college how low my heart rate might have been at times. Anyway, I got what I wanted out of this. Just a short, recovery run without much effort. My heart rate was all the way down to 102 when I got back to my apartment. Another long day ahead tomorrow with work but hoping to get out early in the morning.
