Was pretty indecisive today, but finally settled on the Chili-by-2 Loop. Drove down there and ran it twice, the first time in 16:16 and the second in 16:48. The first was a bit faster because I caught two guys (only by going about 7:53 pace) then stretched out the lead a bit. Thought I might have a chance to break 8:00 pace with a decent third mile but I hit it in 24:27 with a 8:22 third mile. I stopped twice, both because of stoplights. Stopped at one at the 1.81-mile mark and the other at 3.27 miles. Both were fairly brief with the latter not really a necessity.

I had no water today and that may have hurt a bit, although I think hydration is a bit overrated for slow and fat people like me. I have a tentative plan to get after it in May and try to run every day. I need to get to 165 pounds by July 1 and only was about 189 last Wednesday. So 24 pounds in two months? Need to change everything if I’m going to make a go at it. No beer tasting (or drinking) during the week, no more peanut butter (which seemed to drop my weight immediately when I gave it up for Lent), no more soda and lots of exercise.

My legs felt a bit heavy but I was overall pretty sore everywhere from yesterday’s golf session. Another sign I’m getting old. I was expectedly breathing hard the whole run and at least once held back a possible dry-heave. Here’s to a good May.
