Just noticed that I have over 10K miles on my road bike now. Psyched! So today I decided to work on a long hill. Started at Coyote Creek trail entrance down in Morgan Hill to keep the ride a bit shorter. Rode South along Hill Rd and took Dunne to Thomas Grade. Ascended Thomas Grade - difficult but short climb with an ass-kicking 16% grade at one point. Then rejoined Dunne and did the long 8+ mile climb up to Henry Coe. I took this up to the cattle gate and then did the short very steep rise after the gate. I didn't know how much further to the Ranger Station but in retrospect I should have gone all the way to that point since I was probably ALMOST THERE. Whatever. It was a good but difficult ride. 3360' of gain! I found the uphill pretty steady with some harder grades thrown in here and there. The downhill was not as bad as some but still pretty windy so I was conservative. The road itself is in sucky condition, and next time I do a long hill I will probably pick another place.

Saw some other guys going up when I was coming down, and saw just a few cars. Otherwise, a very quiet ride.
