Notes

Finally got up Quimby Road from the steep side. Dat ride is uber tough. I took a different strategy to lessen fatigue and make sure I could ascend the entire way without stopping. First, I didn't run with Kremlin this morning and I didn't bike yesterday so my legs were very well rested. Then on the climb I did a 60-120 pedal strokes seated alternating with 30 standing for the first 2 miles. For the last mile I reverted to standing and sitting alternating 20-30 pedal strokes. Counting gave me something to focus on during the steeper grades and sitting more kept my heart rate lower so I didn't blow up too early. I can't believe that that group of velodrome kids used to do this climb EVERY Sunday. Wow. I have a lot of improvement yet to make with my climbing. Wondering what this move has in store. It will be an interesting change with the altitude+elevation but part of the year will be limited by weather which we never have to worry about in CA. Or maybe it won't be such a change, because for the Winters here we get so much rain that many people don't ride much anyway. All I can do now is climb as many hills on my list as possible to get in better shape.

Route was Silver Creek Linear Park - Silver Creek - capitol - Aborn - Gurdwara - Quimby - Mt Hamilton - Clayton - Marten - mt Pleasant - Ruby - Aborn - capitol - Silver Creek

2550' elevation gain
