Arizona is checked off the 50 state list!
Good ride and my fastest Century ever which is surprising considering the lack of long rides and training lately.
A few highlights:
Passing the AFB and seeing lots of cool airplanes. Before the ride on the way from the airport I saw 4 fighter jets take off.
Riding in multiple pacelines including one with an incredible athlete that cycled with one leg as his left was amputated at the hip. I had trouble keeping up with him. Humbling! With 9000 riders you are assured of finding a paceline. That was great since I went into the ride not as fit as I would like to have been. This is not to say that I didn't pull plenty of people along during various points...
Seeing the Seguro cactuses.
Of Note:
I was a bit sparse with fueling. This did hurt me somewhat in the middle "hilly" section, especially since I hammered for the first 45 miles. Lack of long rides definitely was hurting me in the 2nd half.
We got a few sprinkles of rain but most of it held off until after I finished.
