They opened up the South Rim trail finally so I ended up taking it up to the top after Penitencia Creek trail. That trail is a bit challenging with an upwards grade on single track which also includes switchbacks to kill speed and multiple wooden steps at different points. Passed a mountain biker on Creek trail and he said to me "you must have a faster bike than me". Hahaha. Funny guy. Tried to work on turnover when I could so the pace was quite variable with the hills and different surfaces varying from pavement to rocky trail. Return trip was Sycamore switchbacks and Creek Trail + about a half mile of pavement add on afterwards to get it to 7. Rotated in new shews!
