Notes
Weather was beautiful, but the race was tough for me. The first mile was a gentle upward incline that slowed me down, and this set a slow pace for the whole run, though I picked up a bit in the last mile (it was an out-and-back course). I took three 30-second walk breaks: two in the first mile and once on a steeper hill, just after the turnaround point. ~ The start of the race took me by surprise; it was simply "On your marks, get set, go" with no build-up to it (a minute or so before that, there were instructions about the route). I hadn't even opened my Runkeeper app, so I fumbled with that as I was slowly running among the cluster of other runners; by the time I started the app, I was already on the street, well past the starting point. I overran at the end of the race to make up some of the distance; I've adjusted the distance and time to the official numbers.
