Notes
This was a VERY hard trail run race. I didn't expect it to be so tough. I also ran it on less than 5 hours sleep. Needless to say I wasn't at my optimum. Here are my splits:
1 Mile - 11:03 - Feeling pretty good, started with the 4/1 but the first big hill I had to walk more, very winded.
2 Mile - 14:20 - Lots of hills, the beginning of the rough spots, still struggling with being winded.
3 Mile - 14:19 - Finally got to some plateaus, Still winded and feeling like I won't make it.
4 Mile - 15:08 - The beginning had rocky inclines and declines from hell, actually had to use my hands to help get up.
5 Mile - 14:20 - Along the river, two river crossings, one was over my calves, feeling better but exhausted.
6 Mile - 12:22 - Finally some flat areas, was able to catch my second wind. Meet up with Paige and the 1 mile racers.
6.2 Mile - 2:33 - Ran with Paige the last 1/2 mile, I could have finished a couple of minutes faster, but it was much better to wait on her and finish together.
A great race, I've already decided it is one of my challenges for next year.
Faults - I did not realize this was a full on trail run, not to mention that it is considered one of the top 5 hardest 10Ks in the USA!
