Notes

Hometown Heros 10K at Rec center.

My goal was sub 48 on this and I truly expected that to be tough since I haven't been running much at all lately.

I knew Deanna would run a good race, so I told her from the start I wasn't trying to keep up with her. I actually did keep her within sight.

The only time I looked at my watch was during the first mile and I saw that it said the pace we were running was 6:48...I knew that wouldn't last long. The weather was great for the 4th of July, and I felt better than I expected although from about mile 2 to the end I had that "hope I don't throw up" feeling.

There was about 120 people so not a bad turnout for Manchester. I passed quite a few people in the first 2 miles, then everyone seemed fairly spread out.

The guy on the bike knew me so at about the 3 mile point he came by and told me I was in 6th. This was nice, but merely trivia since I didn't feel like I could sustain a faster pace. I had tucked in behind a guy who I thought may be in my AG (it turned out he was in his 20s) and my plan was to hang with him until close to the finish and beat him on the kick. Unfortunately I didn't hang close enough and he beat me by about 20 seconds or so.

Deanna finished a full minute ahead of me and won the overall for the girls.

I was pretty shocked to see 46 a sthe first 2 digits.

I beat my 10K pr by 4 min 10 seconds...woo hoo!! I like that kind of surprise!
