Notes

This was on fitness trail, which is a soft surface, so it's slower than pavement. I wasn't sure what to expect and thought I'd do good to come in under 28 min.

Did something different this time and didn't warm up at all, just stretched and bounced around a little. Don't know if I'd have done better if I'd warmed up, but had no problems.

Planned to do first in 8:30, 2nd in 8, then 7:30 to7 the rest. Ended up doing slightly different but felt pretty good.

Several passed me in the first mile, but I let them go. I was about 6th place going into 2nd mile and I picked up the pace, but still felt good. Passed everyone but 2nd & 3rd place guys who were too far ahead to chase. Heard footsteps the rest of the race, but held them off. Had enoug to kick the last half mile.

4th place was about 30 sec behind me.

For the shape I'm in, this was a good race.
