Notes
Barely got to my group before we started... couldn't find where to drop my clothes bag off and when I did, it was about a quarter mile through the crowd.
We only had 4 minutes between waves, so not much time to get acclimated to the water. I had less than 3 because I was in the back of the group, but it worked out.
About 50 yds into the swim my left goggle filled with water. This normally would freak me out, but I decided not to stop and adjust because I didn't want to waste time. I think I did pretty well with sighting, but it was tough with one eye, and at times it was pretty foggy. Also, at one point I got some seaweed or something across the other side of my goggle, so I had no vision at all. I tried to clean it off as I swam, finally got it off. Toward the end of the swim, I made a point to try to go straight to the exit, swim until I felt the ramp with my hands, then stand and run. There was a good current, but still, I was happily surprised with a 31:38 swim!
