being IM #3, i was pretty calm about the race, the prep and everything else in comparison to IM #1. i felt i had prepared myself for any stupid thing that could go wrong, mentally, physically and mechanically and so my mantra for this IM was "yeah man, like fuck, i have no control over that...serenity now". and so with the forecast looking like shit...that mantra was perfect.

i won't bore you with bullshit. just know everything was awesome and smooth as silk in the time leading up. before i knew it, the cannon blew.

swim;

the infamous mass start has been replaced by a rolling start where you seat yourself in accordance of your predicted time and your time starts when you cross the mat. to me, all this does is bottleneck the mass start and for most following the cable, the washing machine is set on the heavy duty cycle. *mantra* it was rough...and not the nap time i was anticipating...in fact, i had a panic attack a half mile out where i had to kinda stop and really comfort myself in the chaos. wish i knew why that keeps happening to me but at least i have the experience to get myself back. i don't think i lost a lot of time. finish loop 1, cross the mat again and start loop 2. half way i feel the cold downpour start...actually i couldn't believe i felt it...holy crap man that's going to suck on bike! then i get kicked in the face and it knocks my goggles off. luckily, i didn't loose the fucking things. "why do you people have to kick so fucking hard?" rounding the turn i get kicked in the wrist and i swear i thought it got fucked...i swam with a fist like 10 strokes cause it hurt but then someone kicked the other one and then i just got pissed and sucked it up. 4 minute pr so following the cable and drafting is best...no matter the troubles i had. glad to get out of there but it was downpouring so i was dreading the bike cause knew it was going to be a very cold ride. *mantra*

motherfuckah! i don't think it could have rained any harder...scary lightning and deafening thunder was an added bonus. all i could think about was i was not going to be able to fly down that damn decent cause of this FUCKING SHITASS STORM! when the hill came, my brakes didn't really work and i was afraid i'd fucking low side so i white knuckled the whole fucking thing and my whole body was one big fat major cramp by the time i reached bottom. *mantra* sooo cold too i couldn't wait for the inclining to start so i could try and warm up some but by like mile 30 the rain stopped and i could see the sky was clearing...thank christ. just starting the hill i made a stop that had to happen. rest of loop went great and i eventually warmed up. 2nd loop everything was dry so i was able to fly down the decent and that was very awesomely fun. passed quite a few here that only took me as soon as it leveled off. felt great/strong rest of the ride. i ate everything i could grab. all that time on bike this cycle really payed off.

t2 kinda sucked too.

this was a shuffle and really felt like it but way better than last years crap i had to deal with. unfortunately all that food on bike gave me the runs on the run so stopping to take care of that was way too often. *mantra* definately happy that there was very little walking though. then i was done. pretty good day i say.
