this was the perfect day to conduct a dry run. by that i mean, no water and no gu, add some hills and 4 hours of sleep and just plain fatigue, and i have a run that i will surely make a steady decline. the point was to see how i could deal with it. i like the idea of incorporating that into the regimen. i think that if my body learns to deal with the shit better, then it will only help me at crunch time. i think i'm getting dependent on gu and water and i don't really want that. so weather permiting, i'll do dry runs maybe once a week - doesn't have to be a 20m but probably at least a 10-15. that should give me the "unperfect conditions" experience i think i need. this idea didn't come from me - let the record show, but i believe it's going to help.

anyway, i declined just as i wanted to. wasn't even going to do 20 either. just wanted 17 but at 15+ i really started to suffer. this is were the/my hills started and i was just hurting everywhere - waist down. so i decided i better do the 20 and get through the shit as this was the whole point of the whole thing. i did get through it but it wasn't pretty. things were cramping and there was one down hill that just almost killed me - that's right, going down. i imagine this is how i am going to feel during the last 6m of baystate. yup, this plan is fool proof.
