Notes
Sussex Endurance Life Trail Marathon in 5:23:30, from Birling Gap between Eastbourne (where we stayed, at the Devonshire Park Hotel) and Brighton, up and down the Seven Sisters chalk cliffs, on a very windy (40 mpg gusts?), occasionally foggy but not too cold (51-55) degree day, with Kathleen, who ran ahead finishing about 4 minutes ahead of me, and Levi Yant and Kirsten Bomblies, who stayed at the Tiger Inn where we had our free pint at the end, and who ran the half-marathon (her first!). Exhausting, hilly run, 4000 feet of climbing, many steep short hills, some longer, lots of walking, most of the trail on nice soft grass, beautiful chalk/flint/chert topography, gorgeous ocean vistas with the chalk cliffs. All in all a success, though I feel like I ran an ultra. Now beat up, heading out to dinner with Kathleen to a local pub or two...
