Marathon P'tit Train du Nord, from Val-David to St. Jerome, Quebec, on about the most perfect day ever for running, 35-47, light winds quartering from behind and the left, net downhill course, and just gorgeous, catching the most spectacular fall colors I have seen in some years. We just loved our trip here, staying in a beautiful large apartment literally overlooking the starting line, so we didn't even head out the door until 9 minutes until the start, which was in 5 minute waves, which we could here them announce. About as well run a race as I have seen. Truly exceptional. As for my run, it was a tough day at the office, where I sort of inexplicably couldn't produce the speed of my training. Perhaps I was overtrained, but I am not sure -- not a horrible day by any means, running a minute and a half negative splits (always good in a marathon), but just at a slower pace than I thought I was ready for. Still, a BQ with 8:35 to spare, so next September I should be good for signing up to run as a 69 year old. And then after that I will be able to try to BQ (never, ever guaranteed in this life....) as a 70 year old.
