Comrades!

It was record heat, brutal headwinds, and I suffered crippling cramps at mile 35, being reduced to a tentative walk at times. So I sent Kathleen ahead at about mile 40. She looked fantastic! What a runner. I understand that there was a record low percentage of finishers (some 10,000 out of 18,000 registered)…. It was carnage out there, but festive two, kind of like Boston… a bit more than twice and with 10 times the hills!

What an event! I see why Comrades has a special reputation, which I can share some other time.

I am sore as shit, from the depletion, but Kathleen is doing great. We are proud of our “bronze medals”, given to those who break 11 hours, and feel utterly privileged and pampered and grateful to be able to be here and to have run the race. We now are on our safari near the Swaziland border.
