64F 97%H 64DP, the Alien 13.1 (or Area 13.1, nor sure which) race in Roswell, GA. Totally lucked out with the rain. It stopped just as it was to line up for the race. Prior to that it had been raining for hours. First mile at least should have been a lot faster but I was hemmed in by others. Probably should have lined up in front of the 2 hour pacer instead of behind him. They changed the course so that there was no hill at the 3 mile turnaround, but they added a new hill around the 9 mile turnaround. That was killer because there were two in a row. Totally took my legs away.
There were two 2:00 hour pacers. The one with the sign was cool, but the other was annoying as hell. I guess he was the sweeper, making sure that all the 2 hour people stayed in front of him. But he wouldn't shut up. He was yelling and hollering so much that I had trouble hearing my own earphones. My cadence graph looks like hell and this was part of the reason for it.
As I said last year, get there 2.5 hours before race time. I got there 2.25 hours early and the first parking lot was already full.
I was number 338. I didn't stay for the awards. It takes too long for them to get down to my age group and I hadn't even expected to place, let along win. I was soaking wet and was getting cold so I just left.
13.1 @ 1:59:10 officially = 9:06 pace. This is better than what I recorded on Garmin. That must be an issue of when I started the timing.
