Notes

47F 72%H 38DP, The Lake Wobegon Trail Marathon and I was #78. It is not a "Trail" marathon, but is held on the Lake Wobegon Trail which is a 10 foot wide hard surface Rails to Trails type trail.

I had no business running this since my training had been totally shattered by an afib/flutter heart condition, but I would have lost out on over $400 by canceling and it only cost me an additional $80 something to go ahead and do it. Even so, I didn't do as well as I should have. I had no business running 10 miles while in afib six days before the marathon. My legs never recovered from that. I didn't have any heart issues during the run but I pretty much lost my legs by mile 16.

I ran with my cell phone and had Google Latitude as the active application, which allowed friends and family to track my progress throughout the race. They say they received updates every 3 minutes, which at my slow speed would have been roughly every quarter mile.

The weather was rainy/sleety with strong wind mostly from the left side. I had to take my hat off lest I have to chase it over endless prairies. Getting up at 0430 isn't early enough on race day. Make it 0345 next time. As usual this race is very well organized and run by Race Director Sharon Hobbs. She does an excellent job. Unfortunately one runner collapsed and died at the finish line.
