Notes
48F 84%H 43DP, The Atlanta Half Marathon, with all of its brutal hills. Ran with MIchelle Church. Got up at 3:00 and had 10 minutes to watch the news before picking up MIchelle at 0445 for Fleet Feet bus departure at 0530.
Ate 2 small bananas with peanut butter. Had a quarter cup of pickle juice and a cup of coffee. Had wanted to stay at a pace of 10:00 mpm, but the hills did me in. The hill beginning at the mile 7 marker went on for a mile. After that there was just hill after hill. At the finish there is 0.25 - 0.35 slight downhill finish. Without all those hills I think I could have done it. Even with the earlier hills I was pretty much holding pace until the mile long hill at mile 7. sigh....
Listened to PODRunner at 171 which corresponded to a cadence of 87 steps (or 174 strides) per minute. Stayed at that cadence except for one downhill portion at about 9.3 miles where I picked it up faster on a downhill. I was able to go faster than a 171 cadence for that portion. Also, on some of the latter hills, starting at about 9.68 and 10.67 and thereafter, I just couldn't keep up the fast cadence. I just couldn't run fast enough to warrant it.
Also forgot to turn off my Garmin at the finish. I pushed lap instead of stop, so had to edit out the last bogus lap.
Went over to Michelle and Joe's for Thanksgiving dinner afterwards.
