Notes

The Area 13.1 Half Marathon in Roswell and was number 324. What a mess. This entry includes 13.10 @ 2:33:20 and a warmup of 1.50 @ 16:49 combined.

Note the Temp of 88 (feels like 94), DP of 72, TDP of 160 = 1.0585 * 9:09 = 9:41 or 1.0585 * 9:30 = 10:03 between which I had intended to stay. I think I was bitten by nutrition again. Had pasta last night, and two glasses of Solyent today with 1 cup of oatmeal and 2 frozen bananas in the mixture. Also hadn't had anything to drink except two large cups of coffee. I ran out of water from my 700 ml handheld at mile 7 and that 700 ml amount usually can last me for an entire marathon.

My 310xt froze at the starting line. It had worked fine for the warmup. I put it in the time display so I could see how long until the start. After the anthem I noticed that it still said about 8 or so minutes until the start, so I tried to put it back to the usual running screen, but it was frozen. I unfroze it at home later, but I'll have to set up everything from scratch again. Never had a 310 freeze up before. :-(

No delay at the start, I was ahead of the slower people. I was fine for the first mile. Remember this is the 920xt, which only actually registered 12.72 miles for the run, so those first couple of lap times are probably wrong. However, I also think they measure this course short. I've thought that in other years. That was too fast a start for the heat. I still hate that trail section, dodging roots and trees. Don't think I'm going back again.

They had a BAD hill in the new section of the course they added this year. I didn't see anyone run it. Also, a girl won the overall. The first guy was more than 2 minutes behind her.

I perspired more than I ever have at a race. (At least a distance race.) In fact I seem to have shorted the Knuckle LIghts that I was carrying. I couldn't get it to turn off afterwards.

I hung around after the event for awards, but they must have already had them, and I couldn't find anybody to see if I had placed. Perhaps I should have looked it up on my phone. I wanted that award to go with last years for symmetry purposes.

Race was supposed to start at 1900, and I targeted getting there at 1630 for parking purposes. Travel time is 42 minutes, so think 45 minutes so needed to leave at 1545. I was pretty much on time.

Edited to note that I was able to pick up my award in Roswell a few days later at a running store.
