Notes

This workout was short but very intense. It was much more humid than it has been lately. The first 800 felt just fine at 2:50. We got a pretty short rest (like 1-2min?) then the 400 was hard and I got a little boost from a teammate running a 200 along side me. She was fast for a 70 year old! The 200m was surprising in that I finished first, which I never do. The speediest person around was running 200s on her own and the other sprinters weren't at practice so I guess it was my day :). The second 800 felt really weird. My legs barely felt taxed, but my lungs and stomach felt really bad. I realized later it might have been because I hadn't eaten much and this is after my dinner time. Also it was humid and I am bad at humid. Anyway, I saw 2:07 split at the 600 and was like "oh I could probably PR if I run a 40sec 200." And so I did! On the next interval, I said to myself "it's only a 400" and I managed to gut it out in 79 sec, but I really felt like I wanted to puke and like I might actually puke. We jogged out and did another 200m. I was first again with 37. Not too bad for me. We finished up and I asked the coach to do one more and 3 of us went. There is a new girl who is quite speedy so I was working to not let her catch me. Sometimes this kind of competition helps. It's not mean or anything, it just motivates you to keep pace. I came through the 400 in 82 and I was like "wha?" and then I came through the 600 in 2:06 and I was like "WHA?" and then this dude pulled up next to me and I was like "gotta beat him" so I pushed through and made 2:45. I was super psyched. I didn't believe I had it in me but I did. I think the new standard for speed 800s is 2:50-2:55 for me. I feel like something magical is happening to my body. :)
