Notes

Won the Winfield Mile! Woohoo! Fun and fast after three days off (Friday off just from tiredness and week of bad stuff w/ Grandpa/s cancer diagnosis, parents, and mega car bill), then Saturday off b/c of slight fever (99) in the morning and Peter affirming boldly that I should take the whole day off despite feeling better in the afternoon after a good nap. Sunday off as always. New Year's Eve was a blast at Pastor Joel's house. SOOO many funny stories.

And boom! this mile did the trick! Got the confidence booster in, and was very surprised at how easily I could go sub 5:45, considering that was my maybe goal. Really pleased with everything. Kept telling myself to just have fun and relax enough to break 6 as I warmed-up into the wind to the start line.

Started with Tonna Arbaugh on me, but she let go maybe 1/4 of the way in, ran solo the rest of the way. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw around 5:15 as I was closing out the race on the last stretch. Downhill and tailwind were a plus. Peter and I both think I could definitely go sub 5:40 on the track. Legs felt fine, but the cold wind definitely hurt the lungs coming in at the end. Looking forward to racing in warm air this weekend. Definitely more excited for the Father Diamond Invitational now, especially because I put in the hard work over winter break to keep things going. Grateful to God for giving me the grace to finish all of my workouts, as hard as they got, and for the extra couple days of rest this past weekend.

Mile PR, even including Main Street Miles, by 5 seconds, despite the fact that I was way slower when I ran those! Lat time I ran this race two years ago, I was like 40 seconds slower (!!).

Onward and Upward!
