School Record and Runner Up

At the beginning of the season, our coaches wanted us to pick a word that we wanted to stick with us throughout the season; a word that will motivate us. Some people choose "CONSISTENCY," others choose "CONFIDENCE," someone choose "SWAGGER," etc. For my word, I choose DAMN. At first, I was given some backlash for my word, for it being "too inappropriate" or it being seen as a joke, but I can assure you that there is a reason why I picked this word. I picked this word because I wanted it to represent the positive and negative things that happen during a track season. You can use this word in many examples, like "damn, that was a tough race," or "damn, better luck next time." For this nationals race, all I had in my mind afterwards was: "Damn, what a race."

It was a scary, yet amazing experience! I had such a great time running a race with the best relay I could ask for, throwing down a school record and getting not just an All-American trophy, but a runner-up trophy! One of my biggest goals for my college career is to become an All-American, and now I can say I am! There is so much on my mind that I can't personally make into words, but I'm just so happy. Onto Outdoor!
