Fox Valley 20 Miler today, didn't want to race it but I was looking for a quality steady run that was slightly progressive. Daniel jumped in to bandit with me and give me some company which was great. We pretty much just talked and socialized the whole time. I had to pee really bad at the start though despite using the bathroom 20 minutes earlier so I had to stop and use the bathroom so that's why there is like a 40 second difference between my chip and my watch. Definitely couldn't have ignored using the bathroom for much longer so better to just get it out of the way like I did. Legs felt pretty shitty and tight, probably from working 9:45-5 yesterday and the fact that I didn't warmup at all lol. Dave was waiting at mile 7 so he jumped in with Daniel and I and we all ran together for like 5 miles but then Dave's foot started to hurt him so he stopped and Daniel and I kept going. Saw the guy who was winning the 20 miler and figured that we should pick it up and catch him since he was only 15-20 seconds ahead of us. Miles 14 & 15 were when we picked it up to catch him and after we did we kinda just slowly eased off the gas and settled back down. After mile 15 things started to kinda suck because Daniel and I had to keep dodging and squeezing between people on the path who wouldn't move for us because they had their headphones in. That sucked but even with that we still were right at 6 flat so that was cool. Overall this is basically what I ran last year so I got in a quality long run without totally cashing my legs for the rest of the week. Definitely going to take it easy the next few days though since I'm racing at Augie on Friday lol I hope my legs start to feel a bit better soon. However, highlight of the day was my dad's run, big shoutout to him for crushing his 20 miler!! I'm pretty stoked that we both get to be in the same marathon together for his first one!
