Notes
Went into this road race with the mindset of running fearless and being a tough son of a bitch. We ended up getting out relatively quick, with our first mile in 4:56. For some reason though it always feels alot tougher than that. At this point Beattie had a second or two over Brady and I. Once we hit the mile and a half mark I decided that I wasn't going to sit anymore and made a move. Actually just cruised right past him and ended up leading for a bit. Brady came from behind at this point and got next to me and then we hammered the next mile or so together. McWilliams fell off of us around the 2 mile (9:46) so now it was just Beattie, Brady, and I. I continued to help lead but once we turned by the apartments Brady made a surge and I was unable to respond. I tried getting pissed and forcing myself to go but it seemed like every time I increased so did they. Brady broke Beattie on the final straightaway and I was desperately trying to catch back up to him. Crossed the line at 14:59(clock record says 15:00 flat though :( ) but was still able to close in 4:42ish, so overall I had a good part 3 and 4! It just didn't look like it because the hammer really dropped after the 2 mile. Regardless, glad I pr'ed and I'm really glad I made that move at the 1.5 marker, I'm done running like a puss.
