Another year with strong competition at the Turkey Trot. Haven't been in shape to even be in contention for winning but was excited to get out quick and give it a go. Race went out and everyone got out super fricken hard as I got buried instantly. Spent the entire first mile just trying to catch up to the second group. Passed a majority of them and came through the mile marker a few seconds behind Thompsen in 4:50. It didn't feel terrible but the first mile never usually does. Knew I would probably slow down regardless but just did my best to stay as relaxed as possible. Paired up with Waterman and we ran the rest of the race together slowly catching the 2 stragglers that fell of the main pack. Was about a second or two behind them going into the last 300 meters and we all kicked and everyone kinda just held the same gap on each other. Ended up 8th in 15:43, close to a minute off my PB here but 7 seconds faster than last year and felt very strong doing it. Excited to see lots of improvements over this training cycle but not a bad starting point!
