2015 Snow 14. BC13. BC SB3. White Noise.

BRIEF NOTES...

Started hiking at 6:30am with MHM. Bluebird, no wind and deeeeep pow. Had to break some heavy trail, but got to the top in an hour and a half. Hard work. First time on the snowboard since early January so was a little cautious, but the POW POW was pretty sweet. Started a second hike at 8am and got back up top in another forty minutes. Had it together on the second line, just UNREAL.

EXTRA NOTES

Sitting at the top of the mountain before our first run when the next guy climbing starts to get close. He had been hiking hard skier's left all the way, but due to the shape of the mountain, at some point someone on skins will have to cut across the bowl. Always a little heartbreaking if you snowshoed all the way up first. As we did. But it can't be helped really. It just gets too steep to skin straight up. You just have to zig zag.

Anyway, I realize GUY is just about to start cutting across and (as we had been chilling long enough) stand up, strap in and hope he waits to let me go. I guess he didn't as he just started cutting across the bowl with me standing up ready to go the whole time. So he gets to the middle of the bowl, directly below me, then asks which I want him to go. I say he should just zig zag back the same way he came. Keeps the bowl untouched (well, half at least) and makes no difference to him. He mumbles something in reply... and then... he decides to take a break. Puts down his pack. Gets out a drink. Etc. Etc. I'm standing ready to go. For a while now. Legs kinda starting to cramp up. Not exactly the best avalanche etiquette to drop with someone directly below you... and I also don't want him in my freaking shot. The POW POW is going to be UNREAL. The guy is clueless.

Both me and MHM are cussing under our breaths. So ridiculous. Eventually he zagged back and I could drop. When he eventually got to the top he thanked MHM profusely for breaking trail. Oblivious of how much trash we had talked about him! What can you do though?! Guy was just clueless. POW was still SICK.
