Notes

Weather: nice at 60 deg. Wish it was in the low to mid-50s like the last couple mornings.

Workout: 3 miles warmup, 8x400 with 400 rec jog, 2 miles cooldown.

Legs didn't start loosening up until after two miles. Did a couple strides before starting the workout so that I can activate some fast-twitch muscles.

I wasn't sure what sub-70 400s would feel like, so I just ran hard on the first rep and then would see what the effort was like. After a 67 first lap, I figured I should be able to run this pace and even pick it up slightly in the 2nd half of the workout. Ended up running 67, 67, 68, 67 for the first four and 66s for the last four. Really happy with the workout as I have never run that many 400s in sub-70. The workout was definitely intense. The area where my right hamstring attaches to my glute was tight at the end of the workout. I actually had to stop on the cooldown so I can stretch/massage it a little. Looks like I'll have to foam roll the area tonight.
