Notes
Weather: Nice weather. Low 60s with little humidity.
Workout: 2 miles warmup, 2 miles at 6:20ish, 2 miles at 5:45ish, 2 miles at 6:20ish, 2 miles at 5:45ish,1 mile easy.
Didn't start the workout till around 7 because I had the Army formation run right before. After the formation run I changed into running clothes and went right into the workout. The first 2 miles at 6:20ish felt easy. It actually took a few minutes to get a feel of the pace because I had been running 10:00+ pace as the warmup. The next 2 miles at 5:45ish pace felt good and very controlled. I think I got comfortable with the pace because when the 2 miles was up, I slowed down but was still running low 6:00ish pace. I put on the brakes a bit so that I wasn't running the moderate portion too fast. I was a bit surprised to see that I was at 6:10-6:15 for the moderate portion before going into the last 2 miles. The last couple miles felt good and had no problem running 5:45ish. In fact, I was a little faster with splits at 5:40s.
Very good workout. I thought that the workout would feel somewhat hard. Instead, it felt like a good MP type workout that didn't leave me exhausted.
I know that my fitness is at good level, but my only hope is that I don't peak too fast prior to CIM. I'll leave that to Coach Techa!
