3M warm-up w/ strides, 4M tempo starting at 5:40 and slowly progressing down to 5:30, 3M cool-down. Weather was nice (54 deg) with a little wind.

Was thinking of running the tempo on the HdG downtown loop, but with all the cross streets and early morning traffic on a school day, I decided to run the workout on the track. It would also be a little easier to hit my target pace rather than relying on the GPS.

Plan was to start around 5:40 and then slowly work my way down to 5:30 or even sub-5:30 for the last mile. The first mile was all about getting a feel of the pace and hitting 85sec laps. I came through the first couple miles (5:38, 5:36) feeling good. In the last 2 miles, I focused on increasing the pace to 83-82sec laps. The last mile felt fast and hard, but still manageable.

Finished the 4M tempo (22:12, 5:33 avg pace) feeling great.
