Slept in + had a good breakfast + espresso + nuun so felt good going into this. I thought I'd be able to run on the lakefront path but didn't realize everything would be closed off for the marathon by Saturday afternoon. Ran down Harrison and then went a little south and boxed back toward my apt and around UIC/Rush. A little hectic and stop and go with the marathon set up plus ran into one of my cohort friends around 10 miles in and stopped to talk to her for a few minutes so not totally continuous like lakefront path would have been. But happy with the effort, just felt really good.

Thought I'd run Sunday but 6.5 hrs of marathon volunteering left my legs pretty stiff. Super cool experience volunteering with athletes with disabilities. I got to lead the wheelchair athletes (including Tatyana McFadden!) to the start line which meant we were also right by the elite corral. Saw Jordan Hasay warming up. Then we moved all the wheelchairs to the finish and waited for them to finish, got to talk to some of the U of I wheelchair athletes. Also saw Galen Rupp at the finish line limping around, he didn't look good. Was like 50 ft away from the finish line so saw the super close men's finish and new women's world record. Super inspiring day, congrats to all the IXC and IL Elite who ran!!!
