Aurora Spartan Classic
Great races today by all, seemed like a lot of people PR'd so that's a great and promising way to kick off the season. Drizzling conditions and a very muddy course kind of made me doubt a PR would come out of today. I started off in classic fashion with a 5:58 (according to Julia) first mile and went out in 2nd. Tried to hang onto the top 3 girls for as long as I could since I knew this could be a good place to run a fast time. About halfway through the race in the sloppy forest section Julia caught me. We pushed each other when we needed to which I think really helped get a PR today. I honestly think GLR really prepared me to run through the mud in the forest but it was still a slow moving part of the race and I was annoyed when I would roll my ankle a little or some girl would pass me and all I could do was slip and slide in the mud behind her until I could find a better place to get back in front of her. But the mud took my mind off the race though so that was kind of nice. I finished 5th this year which is 16 places better than last year and I ran 24:15 last year....after coming off a Greece vacation. But hopefully this is just the beginning of PRing (a 22 second PR today!) and of course looking forward to having both Emma and Julia to work with for ONU. And WOW the men look STRONG
