Seeded 31st.....went out in 5th. Haha but what else would you expect of me, this is a very classic Anneliese race move. I think when I go out too fast (when I really shouldn't be up there) it gives me this rush of adrenaline that helps the rest of my race as long as I don't stay there for too long. Ya know it's like doing an extra stride amirite? The winner of this heat was seeded like 18:00 or 18:10 so I shouldn't have been with them, So after the first 250 or 300m I was like whoa whoa whoa let's just settle in and let some girls pass me. So i had myself in a good middle spot but for the first third of the race I was leading my pack which I'm not necessarily a fan of because like yo if you're all going to run right on my shoulder breathing all over me you might as well just jump on my back and I'll carry you on my back through this 5k because then at least you're not stepping on me, and breathing on me, and using me to pace. (i'm kidding, I couldn't carry anyone during a 5k) SO I'm like no no this is not happening for the rest of the race so i let one girl get in front of me and for the rest of the race we would pass each other and push each other. Finished 20/31 and beat my seed time by 20 seconds. Pretty decent race, it's a little faster than what I ran at Valpo last year (18:53) and a little slower than what I ran at nationals last year (18:45). This was my third track 5k and should give me some confidence going into Nationals. Hoping to beat this time at Nationals but that heat will be much smaller and I will have to work harder to do so. Wash U is great because it's such a competitive meet
Steak n' shake afterwards where I treated myself to a peanut butter chocolate shake :D
