Very good workout today. Headed out and back on the prairie path. The (relatively) warm temperatures were greatly appreciated. I was able to get away with wearing half tights, a long sleeve, a vest, mittens and no hat. It was also good to see a fairly large number of runners out on the path. I guess I'm not the only one who misses being on it when it's covered in snow. There were a few icy spots but you could get around all of them except one that was only about 50m long.
Mentally, I was breaking this run down into 3 mile segments. The first 3 were nothing but warm-up. I wanted to make the next 3 a little more "honest" but wanted to keep it controlled. The plan was to really get after it from there and then take the last 2 miles for a cool down. What ended up happening is that I got going earlier than originally planned but never got going quite as hard as I originally planned either. Everything from 2 miles onward was sub 6:25, but only one of those miles was under 6:10. I didn't use the last 2 miles as a cool down either, I just kept it relaxed but strong through the end.
