I'm sure I ran more for this as warm up and cool down but this makes for a nice round number. Basically, I ran a mile before my first leg. then I was running 400-800 meters at each exchange just to stay loose. That number was closer to 800 on the first few exchanges and much closer to 400 on my last few jogs.
