Notes

In terms of effort and mindset, this run was really similar to last Monday - solid pace from the get go that built into a quick but still relaxed pace and finished with the last 15 minutes or so teetering on a full blown tempo. I wanted to use the prairie path today but it wasn't clear enough. I did about 1.5 miles on it but large sections were nothing but very slippery and solid ice and the non-icy spots were .5 inch deep muddy crushed limestone. So I gave up on that and started running a section of Nike Park loop. Once I got back to Bauer I just headed west all the way until the Lifetime Fitness where I cut across the parking lot and headed up Winfield to Warrenville and then up Batavia to my house.

I wish I could have ran more last week but everything worked against that being a possibility. On Friday I flew down to Kansas City to visit with Jane and her family. My flight was supposed to get into KC at 930 am. I didn't know exactly what we had planned for the day but I was hoping I could slip a little something in late in the afternoon. My flight was super delayed though and I spent from 7am until 4pm at Midway and finally landed in KC at 530pm. On Saturday I planned on getting a run in before Jane's dad fixed pancakes. But when I woke up to go for a run it was thunder storming/hailing and there were tornado warnings. Needless to say I thought going back to bed was a better option than heading out for a run. Finally, I knew there was no chance I would be able to run on Sunday because we were driving back all day. The moral of this story is that it feels good to get back into a routine.
