Got beat by the alarm this morning. In some ways i regret it. In some ways I don't. It felt great to get a full nights sleep and to eat pancakes with my housemates instead of run. But I still had the run hanging over my head all day. And 5pm on Saturday evening is a really bad time for a long run. I still got it in though. Overall it was a pretty good run. I wound through some neighborhoods going south from my house. Eventually I made it to Ferry Road and planned on taking that to Raymond so I could cross over the highway. There was less of a shoulder than I hoped so I, on a whim, decided to cut through McDowell and head under the highway. This was a bad idea. Not only was it getting dark as I entered McDowell but it was also snowy. The parts where the snow was fresh weren't bad but any part that I had to run in old track was really uneven. By the time I got out of the forest preserve my arches were super tight. Thankfully they opened up a bit as I continued south past Ogden and eventually made my way over to 5th Avenue before taking Royal St George back north to Mill, to Warrenville (where I stopped in a BP to use the bathroom) and than finishing with some loops around my neighborhood to make it a full two hours. Besides the time in McDowell the pace was really solid. Hopefully the memory of having to do a 2 hour run on my own in the dark on busy streets will be all the motivation I need to make it to future Saturday runs. Also, this is 59 on only 5 runs this week. I'll get a few easy miles in tomorrow and have to straight 60+ weeks. That's a good thing.
