The original plan was to get up early, do 30min and then meet up with the team at the Fieldhouse at 630. Unfortunately there was thunder and lightning at that time. I checked weather.com and saw that the storm was supposed to be around for a while so I scrapped the idea of running in the morning and decided to have breakfast. Of course, about 10 minutes after I made that decision the thunder and lightning stopped. That was rather frustrating. I made my way into work, got done what I needed to get done and came home to get off of my feet for a bit before doing a long run. Finally at about 3 I headed over to Blackwell and ran from the Mack Rd lot out to the corner to Butterfield and Winfield, took the bike path over to Herrick and then looped out to the farthest corner of Herrick, where it meets Danada, before making my way back. Overall I felt pretty good. My legs were extra dead at the end because the entire run was on wet and sloppy crushed limestone. One other thing to note is that I took a gel pack at about 13 miles. I am thinking about using them for my marathon and wanted to see how my body reacts to them. I didn't feel any sort of super duper power boost afterward but I think it helped prevent me from completely falling apart because, like I said, that wet crushed limestone really sucks the energy out of your legs.
