Notes

I already entered a great report about this run but just as I was finishing my computer flipped out and the web browser sent me back. Kinda weird and rather annoying. This one wont be as poetic (and trust me, my previous entry was a real tear jerker). Anyway...Parked out at Leroy Oakes FP. Jane rode her bike on the Great Western Trail all the way out to Sycamore and back. I headed through Leroy Oakes and eventually over to the Fox River Trail and some STC/Geneva neighborhoods. Got to see Geneva HS's new field turf. Very nice. The bathrooms and St Mary's Park in STC were locked. Which makes total sense - why open them on a beautiful Saturday morning in the summer? Hardly anyone's out on the path at a time like that. It would be a waste. I was able to hold it until I found a port-o-potty at the Boy Scout Boat Launch place along rt 31. Got back to my car at about 1hr 50. Decided to finish by heading out for a bit on the Great Western Trail. Last mile (assuming mile markers are accurate) was 6:15. Very encouraging. I didn't not feel like I was hammering too hard at the end, just a solid rhythm. Obviously the weather was a big factor today - good to have some respite from the heat waves - but I am really happy with this run. I did not expect it to go this well. Was hitting 6:45-50 for most of the middle part of the run. It'll be hot next week but hopefully I can still build off the second half of this week.

Great run, Monty! I am guessing the concerns with your achilles has subsided? I will be doing 2 laps at Waterfall Glen in the early am on Saturday morning (assuming weather permits) in case you were looking for company.
