Notes

Great workout today! Warmed up to U-Park. Was worried about my stomach because I spent considerable time on the toilet before practice, but it turned out to not be a problem. The workout was 4x1600m with 3:30 recovery, and then 3x1000m with 4:00 recovery. This was more of a quality workout, with my paces around 4:55 for the miles and 4:50 for the 1k's. My times ended up (4):56, 56, 54, 56, 3:03, 2:58, 2:56. I ran everything except for the 3rd mile with Alec, who is doing really well. I would say the first couple miles felt really smooth, and then the last couple felt a little sluggish as my legs became tired. My breathing was strong though. The 1k's felt amazing, or at least as much as they can after 4x1 mile. I was able to cut down those paces because I was feeling strong through 400 on each of them. Honestly each one felt better than the previous, and I could have done a few more. This was a huge boost for me because this was more volume and faster paces than last year, but yet I felt better and stronger. I believe that more miles, more hill work, more long runs, and no cross-training are finally showing their flavors. I'm pumped for the rest of the base-building. I felt completely within myself today and never did I want to quit, which is the goal right now. Comfortable pain. Hard pain comes later in the winter and spring. For now, I'm happy. Even cooldown felt good! After that I weightlifted, did hurdle mobility, stretched, and did core. Griak on Saturday!
