Notes

Speed day today. Did 5x400 and 6x200 with 2:00 recovery. Wanted 64s for the 400s and 30s for the 200s. Hit 67, 62, 64, 65, 65, 30, 29, 28, 29, 30. Had a little trouble at first finding my pace, but I eventually found it. Ran the 400s backwards and the 200s the normal way so as to not destroy my shin that had had enough of the track last year. It was breezy out of the south, so that made the 400s interesting and the 200s not so bad. I wore my light-weight shoes that don't have orthodics, so that was a new experience for my legs (I've been using them for striders on easy days though). My breathing was getting a little tough towards the end, demonstrating that my body isn't used to these paces, so this was a good workout to throw in. To maintain my 10% speed work of 100% total mileage each week, I only needed 2 miles today, so this worked out well. I think I need to do something like this every couple weeks or so for the whole year, just to maintain that mile speed that I'll need for 3ks and 5ks. After cooling down I did weights, hurdle mobility, stretched, and did core. Good day today!
