Notes

Did not feel any shin discomfort yesterday, so decided to give it a go today. Biked to Beaverdam Park (3.2 miles), then biked on the trail just under 1.5 miles and then hid my bike and helmet in the woods. I grabbed some satellites and ran the trail loop close to the entrance. I decided not to do an out-and-back because I saw a couple people on the trail and I just wanted to make sure nobody would take my well-hidden bike. Temperature upper 70s, dewpoint low 70s for a heat index of low 80s. No breeze at all in the woods, so another stuffy and stagnant run. I 'felt' a little shin discomfort early on, but this is where listening to your body and knowing your body intersect. When returning from even small injuries, it's easy to placebo yourself and 'think' you feel something. I decided to keep going, and sure enough the rest of the run I felt nothing (except for the hills, all this biking is hammering away more at my quads than I thought). Finished my run feeling quite good, hopped on the bike, and biked home. There I did an abbreviated exercise routine as part of my general scale-down of those kinds of exercises.

Today's goal in terms of listening to my body was to ask a question. After a few days off, I wasn't entirely sure how my body was doing, so by running I asked it a question. It's response today would guide my training moving forward. Today my body said "we're doing well, thanks for asking". If I do not feel any discomfort today at home, I will try another run tomorrow to see how it goes. Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
