Last of my workouts this week. Ran my warmup to the HPC because it was 35F out, so that was fun. Legs loosened up really quick during dynamic warmup, which was surprising. My achilles was a little sore this morning and during the warmup jog, but it felt good during the workout. I ran all of these backwards and on the turf in my lighterweight shoes. Coach had originally wanted around 2:45 for the 1ks, but after the first one was 2:49 and I felt it, I decided to try to hold it right there for all of them. Today my breathing went first, and even during the first rep my breathing was pretty hard. Each rep after that was simply a grind, with the last one being all mental. We were planning on doing a 1500m surge rep after that, but I decided not to because I was already a little light-headed and this would have turned the workout into basically a race-effort kind of day. For some reason I feel disappointed, but overall this was 5000 meters at 14:10 5k pace after a high-mileage week with tough, high-volume workouts. So with that, I am satisfied and ready to race the 5k in 6 days! Afterwards cooled down back to the house, stretched, and did a core circuit.
