Notes

Novant Health 15KLung Strong Race, Jetton Plaza, Cornelius, NC

Temp @70-72 degrees F at race time (0745hrs); Cloudy with some sun, very humid.

Course starts on Jetton plaza and heads down Jetton Rd toward park entrance, run downhill about a mile and slight uphill a mile leaving park area. Majority course with slight up and down small inclines, enough to call the course 'hilly', definitely not flat. Entire run on paved roads. Right foot started burning @mile6-7 and had to start breaking up run with short periods of walking...,bummer'! Last couple miles with slight incline. Wore shorts, tank top, compression sleeves, and running hat. Running Shoes HOKA Bondi 4 II (blue). Ran with water bottle. Started sweating around mile 2.

Trained 100% treadmill. Recommend increasing incline on each future treadmill workout 2-6% in 0.5 incrementsContinue 2-3 and 4% Incline work on treadmill. Was able to maintain 8 1/2 minute pace most of race.

Plan: increase speed on hill workouts and # of hill workouts /wk to strengthen legs
