2016 Charlotte Half Marathon, Charlotte, NC (Formerly Thunder Road)
Temp @42 degrees F at race time; @48-50 at finish. 8-10mph cool wind, esp. last mile.
Wore shorts, long sleeve running shirt, calf compression sleeves, gloves, & running hat. Wore gloves entire way; very comfortable, started sweating around mile 2. Running Shoes HOKA Biondi 4 (H1). Carried water bottle w/ hand strap. Hilly course; most training on treadmill, but previous 3 to 4 weeks included hill & road work; this made a difference on hills. Only walked thru a few water sops to drink fluids, but otherwise ran entire way, including the Morehead & Dilworth Hills. First race with very consistent pace per mile, felt very good about this. Next, begin to increase speed per mile.
Plan: increase speed on hill workouts and # of hill workouts /wk to strengthen legs
